The MQ1 was the first bow to break from traditional mostly upright limbs to a noticibly more parallel design. Today with many bow limbs going beyond parallel at full draw it does not seem very radical, but at the time it was a bold new step that greatly reduced the amount of shock and recoil from what archers were used to in their bows. With the MQ1 the Mathews brand took a dominant position in the bow marketplace, a position Mathews still holds today.
